DMC Creates Golden Skein Collectible to Celebrate 270 Years
Celebrating 270 Years: The DMC Corporation Introduces the Golden Skein
A DMC Anniversary Collectible
Edison, New Jersey, July 31, 2016: The DMC Corporation is proud to introduce the Golden Skein, a limited edition 270th anniversary collectible. The Golden Skein is a soft, flexible six-strand floss that incorporates a 24 karat gold wash. Made in the original factory in Mulhouse, France, it is a fitting symbol of DMC heritage and also the DMC product most esteemed by stitchers: DMC Six Strand Embroidery Floss. Each Golden Skein is numbered and has a certificate of authenticity.
The Golden Skein is entirely handmade on a machine that was hand built for this purpose; it is the only one of its kind in the world. A special machine was necessary because the golden thread cannot withstand the tension utilized during normal machine construction. It is blocked with traditional sealing wax, which is laid on the thread manually. The wax is made in France by a century old company.
Special Presentation Box
The Golden Skein comes in a deluxe presentation box that includes a 24 page bound book of DMC history and nine antique cross stitch charts from the DMC archives in France. The box makes an elegant permanent showcase for the Golden Skein and the book.
Purchasing the Golden Skein
The Golden Skein will ship to customers in September. It is available on pre-order beginning July 20, 2016. It also will be available in select retail locations starting in September. The suggested retail price is $115. For more information visit www.Commonthread.US. Supplies will be limited.
